ROAD GLIDE FLTR Side SPLITSCREENS Installation Tips

Thanks for your purchase! In a perfect world where money was no object, you might have your Harley-Davidson® Tech be responsible for the installation. In the real world however, many of us are “not without skills” and elect to perform the installation ourselves (with or without the help of an appropriate and helpful Harley-Davidson® Service Manual).

Public YouTube Video (by Klock Werks®* ….premium windshields) demonstrating outer fairing removal and re-installation:

* IRONIC STORY: In May of 2015, Dennis, our owner/president purchased a pair of Klock Werks® side vent screens (then $75😬) for his 2015 Road Glide®. Although disappointed that a center vent screen was never offered to protect his neck and face, he did appreciate K-W’s excellent screen installation video (public) which is mostly about the removal and reinstallation of the Road Glide® outer fairing (80% of the 10 minute video). Two years later, Dennis decided to open Motorcycle Vent Screens and offer a complete three screen package to fellow Road Glide® owners (see “the rest of the story” below). Kudos to “Klock Werks Joe” for a wonderful instructional video which demystifies fairing removal and reinstallation👍

“The rest of the story”: After suffering several bee/wasp stings, Dennis attempted to create his own center vent screen and quickly identified the difficult funnel-shaped vent as the reason no commercial center screen solutions existed. After extensive R&D, a unique Center SPLITSCREEN solution evolved using thick high quality materials. Upgrading the side screens to “quality match”, he decided to manufacture and offer the 3 screen package as a high quality fairing accessory; a premium product of appropriate quality for Harley-Davidson’s® premium touring bike. Motorcycle Vent Screens was subsequently established May of 2017 offering our beefy, powder-coated 5-Star Rated (made in USA) product (Triple SPLITSCREENS) to fellow Road Glide® owners at under $70😇.

🔎 contrary to Joe’s instruction, there’s no need to remove Headlamp Bezel. Simply loosen Headlamp Bezel Screws, pull Bezel out enough to slip side screen into place behind it;

🔎 When positioning the Side SPLITSCREENS behind each curved Headlamp Bezel, if you’ll gently FLEX the screens while inserting them (rather than bending them) they’ll stay in place with spring tension while you tighten the bezel screws. SPLITSCREENS are thick enough for the bezel to clamp our screen in place as you tighten the bezel screws (no need to use the adhesives the seller of the thinner screens provides);

🔎 When re-installing your Road Glide windshield, be extraordinarily careful to avoid any lateral stress on the 4 windshield screws (it is quite easy to cross-thread them into the soft brass bushings).

2015 OUTER FAIRING AND WINDSHIELD: FRAME MOUNTED FAIRING MODELS 2.42

A message from the President of Elegant Solutions Inc. dba Motorcycle Vent Screens: My very first “Touring Bike” was a Batwing FLHTK Ultra Limited and I loved riding it. However the Harley-Davidson® Road Glide® became my favorite touring motorcycle the first time I rode one! The “Shark Nose” frame-mounted fairing offers both high speed stability cutting through the air at touring speeds as well as low speed maneuverability with the handlebars “free” of the weight of the fairing. My BSR (back seat rider) wife is extraordinarily comfortable riding with me and considers this bike to be a “limo on 2 wheels”!
